One Health

Our program emphasizes a One Health approach to address local and global public health concerns. The One Health concept recognizes that the health of people is connected to the health of animals and the environment. Recognition of the dynamic interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health promotes interdisciplinary collaboration among medical, veterinary, public health, and other professionals. Students in our program gain the requisite knowledge and skills to examine the human, animal, and environmental factors that contribute to the control and prevention of disease and the promotion, enhancement, and maintenance of health.

The Center for Public and Corporate Veterinary Medicine, housed in the same department as the Public Health Program, strengthens ties with federal agencies and organizations to promote discovery and experiential learning across species boundaries.
