MPH Group Photo Class of 2024. The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a professional degree that prepares graduates to practice public health in local, state, regional, national, and global settings. The Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accredits schools and programs in public health to ensure that their curriculum is appropriate to effectively prepare students to enter the public health workforce.

Note: Application fees are non-refundable. Waivers may be requested on a first come-first served basis for qualifying applicants at SOPHA Waivers and VT Graduate School Application Waivers. If granted a fee waiver from the VT Graduate School, please forward the notice to PHS@vt.edu.

  • Applicants must hold an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 in the last 60 credit hours. Applicants with a GPA below 3.5 may be provisionally accepted but must have a 3.5 GPA by the end of the spring semester of junior year.  
  • Applicants must apply in the spring (March 1) of their junior year.
  • Applicants must submit the complete MPH application through the online Virginia Tech Graduate School admissions website.
  • Students will apply for the same year the bachelor's degree is awarded. 
    • For example, if you graduate in spring 2023, you will select the application round: degree-seeking 2023.
