Student Experience

Virginia Public Health students serve the campus and broader community, develop leadership skills, engage in research and dissemination, and serve their fellow students. Engagement that builds professional experience is a foundational aspect of the program.

The Public Health Association at Virginia Tech (PHA@VT) was formed in the spirit of "Ut Prosim" — service above self. Members gain hands-on public health experience, build connections with local health organizations, and create lasting community impact. Atudents in the BSPH, MPH, DVM, and other health-related programs are welcome to join, along with faculty and staff.

The Student Ambassador Program is a volunteer opportunity for undergraduate and graduate public health students to represent the Virginia Tech Public Health Program. Ambassadors serve as a resource for current, incoming, and prospective students — sharing their firsthand experiences and answering questions about the program.

Virginia Tech's Delta Omega chapter, Delta Mu, was established in 2017. Each spring, a select number of VT students, alumni, and faculty are inducted for their dedication to advancing the quality of public health practice and the health of all people. Membership reflects a lasting commitment to the field of public health and those it serves.
